Working Day and Night...

This past weekend we were wedding-free, instead playing a local party in Manhattan Beach. A customer called us to play a going away party for some colleagues and friends. Every now-and-then, I try to take up a good party in order to “cut loose” and take a short break from weddings. The party went off without a hitch and crowd pleasers included Journey “Don’t Stop Believing”, Madonna “Holiday”, Rihanna “Don’t Stop the Music” and Kanye West “Good Life.”

For this weekend, we are getting ready for two events. The first event is a 50th Birthday party in Los Angeles for a friend’s mother. This event is rather informal, more so a family get-together with the addition of a DJ. I’m really looking forward to this event because I’ve known this friend and family for years and I can’t recall these people ever throwing a lackluster event!

The second event is a wedding at the Crowne Plaza in Anaheim. I have not DJ’d there yet, but I did a walk-through and the place looks great. There’s a nice courtyard for the ceremony and the ballroom is roomy and easily accessible. We will be providing sound and music for the ceremony, cocktail and reception. I am also meeting with the couple for the first time (they have been planning from Hawaii), so I’m looking forward to that as well. They have a full schedule for their big day, so I have quite a bit of music to get ready…

Last but not least, I took some pics of the equipment (more details to come on that) and thought I'd share a few...

"Working day and Night", sounds like my life and yes, the party in Manhattan Beach was definitely a hit. I think if you never stopped the music, they'd still be there dancing right now.
